She's an evil enchantress, she does evil... uh.. wait. Zecora joins to represent the No Moon caste.

This is one of my favorites. Love how her look changes with the moonsilver jewelry.

Kkat agrees with the idea of her being the Lunar "mate" of Apple Bloom.

It seems to be the quite the popular theory, that - I guess I can see why though.

now we need only a changing moon and we will have a full lunar circle.

The two other Lunars Castes are non-ponies. Shall we keep the theme?

Whoops, I misread something on the Exalted Wiki.

Spike would make for a great Half-Moon, due to his assistance to Twilight. Unfortunately, it's one of the lost castes. I mixed it up with Changing Moon.

Honestly, based on the description, I don't know if any character matched that.

Mm, it was abit of a gamble when I began, making her jewelry in moonsilver instead of their customary gold (it really changes her appearence alot, oddly enough). I had to hold back on the moonsilver tatoos though - think I was startinh to go overboard... I shouldn't do these late at night when I can't focus hehe

Orichacum filigree would look good on her moonsilver rings. On a related note, could Twilight be her Solar Mate ? Or would it be the very young solar exalted Applebloom ?

I stay out of the shipping business, so I wouldn't presume to assign mates.

Good call. I didn't see that as shipping tough. More as assinging arelationship. Lunar Mates aren't always romantic. Sometimes it's more of a friendship or mentor/student relationship. That's why I associated Zecora to the two that learn the most from her.

Alternately since Creation in the standard version of Exalted lacks sentient beings which are not either Primordials, gods, humans (which can apparently come in any color and varying amounts of body hair as shown by the djala), or something derived from one of those three, perhaps My Little Exalted lacks mortals that are not ponies or derived from ponies. In such a case, griffons and zebras (of which only one each has appeared in the show) would all be either Lunars or beastmen, er, beastponies.

Creation had other races, the first-age Solars genocided them all.
(Lunars can theoritically be animals with a human totem if certain conditions are met.)

What about the Jadeborn and the Dragon Kings ? They were crafted by Primordials, like humanity, but aren't "derived" from primordials.

Good reasoning, that! Everything we know about the non-pony races is that they come from far away (Threshold and beyond, anyone?) and that few people have seen their like before.

I dunno, what happens to a human whose totem is a monkey?
Reply
:iconsynaxe:

Well, they get to turn into a monkey, obviously. I don't see your point.

A closer parallel to this situation is a human whose totem is a human. Which is obviously pointless. If an (apparent) zebra Lunar is shown to have a zebra totem, isn't it more likely that she's just in her Spirit Shape and the form she was born with is something else?

I dunno...that totem looks more like a "normal" zebra than a "Zebra-Pony" - I think the Gorilla-totem analogy holds water...

Completely random thought (don't blame me if it is useless) : Maybe one of her forms is an Okapi?

Huh. Looking at the totem more carefully, I can see your point. Confusion mostly withdrawn.

So this means that in Exalted!FiM, there's sophont and non-sophont versions of the animals? Which I suppose would make carnivores like Diamond Dogs slightly less horrifying than canon, ironically enough.

Well, we know there are relatively normal-looking mules in FIM, so I guess we can assume that ponies are simply an evolutionary branch that doesn't exist in our world. All the "regular" animals seem to exist to one degree or another. I guess zebra ponies (for lack of a better term) are related to ponies the same way Neanderthals were related to homo sapiens.

It's fascinating how strongly Zecora's whole look changes when you replace her gold trinkets with Moonsilver. And she most definitely seems like the Bordermarches-dwelling holistic counterpart to dear, bookish Twilight. Noice!

Also, I LOVE how the tattoos on her face play off the stripes! :D

I know, right? The entire color balance of her character changes. IT makes her seem abit more mysterious and less welcoming I feel... I'm going to guess that it's because yellow (or that usual gold) is a warm color, while blue is cold - so switching them makes a dramatic shift in the overall picture. Particularly when Zecora herself is gray - and thus color-temperature neutral.

Having the attoos follow the natural lines and features of the Lunar seems to be what they show in the books - and it works so well with MLP characters... good of you to notice!

Hmmm, so the Everfree is near the Pole of Wood...
and the Castle of the Royal Pony Sisters is a powerful manse that was swallowed by the Bordermarches, which the party had to brave in order to retrieve the lost artifacts...
I think episode 2 just got 20% cooler.

Whoa! This crossover series really doesn't need much more than an art shift, a sprinkling of Magical Materials and some new names, does it?
The similarities are striking!

Hrm...now that you bring up geography, Cloudsdale could be the remains of a First Age floating city - where once there were streets, there are now semi-isolated floating islands. A still-functional Weather Factory gives the Pegasi something to trade to the Earth Ponies for supplies...

Well... we can't claim to be in a High First-Age kind of deal... but if the merge the lore abit... the Usurpation could coincide abit with Luna's banishment (everything is knocked out of balance when a duotheistic arrangment is broken) and then shizzle hits the fizzle. Fast forward 1000 years (add a zero for extra Creationy bonus) and NMM's return brings about the return of Solar Exaltations (gogo gadget elements of harmony)... so it would place us in the equivalent of either the Shogunate (going downhill) or the Age of Sorrows.
